Penis Shrinkage

Have a question. Due to the Hormone and Radiation treatments, my penis has shrunk substantially. Want to know if there is anything I can do to get the length back?

I remember my oncologist saying "Use it or lose it". You should think of it as just another muscle and make sure you exercise it. I use a vacuum pump (not as regularly as I should) for that reason. Don't think it's going to restore length but it will help stop any further loss.

While we can not offer medical advice on here I would suggest that you visit it with your medical team and discuss your various concerns. The use it or loose it advice has been given often by many and it is probably worth considering. There are a lot of options out there ranging from drugs and vacuum devices to implants. While I do not know about regaining size there are options to help you and your partner find enjoyment. Dennis (prostatecancer.net TEAM)

When did you have the radiation and hormone treatment?

 I had surgery in 2013 for what was described as "confined to the prostate" In 2015 my PSA began to rise 0.02 then 0.04 etc. My urologist at the time said it should be treated with radiation prior to reaching 0.20. When my number reached 0.13 in 2018 I decided to undergo 40 treatments of external beam combined with Lupron. Today the urologists are suggesting radiation begin prior to 0.10 . So far I am ok. Hi OldSpice - So I had my initial surgery in 2012, then a recurrence in 2017 so I had radiation and hormone therapy. With all that I had the same problem. So you can buy a VED pump device, either electric or manual. My own experience is that they don't work all that well. They also advised a lot of, um, well playing with your self or with your partner to get the blood flowing. That is marginally successful, but you will not get it all back. Apparently the shrinkage is somewhat of a mystery, but some think it is because of a shortening of the urethral tube as a result of the prostatectomy. Kind of a bummer but I I think we just live with it!

I may have missed your response to my question about how far back the treatment was. Many men run into this issue. The two causes I am familiar with are changes made during surgery and penile atrophy. Either way, your urologist will be your best resource on what treatments might work for you. I wish you the best in finding a treatment that does work for you.
