75 and diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer
Hey, I need some help from the US veterans out there. My good friend aged 75 was just diagnosed with prostate cancer. He’s going through the VA in Utah. Yes, he is Vietnam vet. When he called me from the ER two months ago said that his pain seven out of 10 on the top of his neck half his tongue was numb and he was having a hard time moving his jaw I told him there was several things it could be. They did a CT scan and it showed cancer through his spine the VA scheduled him to go to Huntsman Cancer specialty hospital. They changed his appointments for two weeks. We live almost 200 miles from the hospital. He’s waiting for biopsy of his prostate and bone he still has pain seven out of 10. They sent him home with a prescription of aspirin (and a prescription of narcan). I told his the narcan was for pain drug overdose. we need to look for a representative from the VA to help him get treatment and get his pain under control. I’m not sure where to call now since this local VA clinic anmd the hospital won’t help. Anybody have any ideas to help me out I really appreciate it.
