High PSA reading, is it fake

I am 77 years old with PSA level above 20 but no signs of prostate problem. Also ultra sound test did not find abnormalities in the prostate gland surface. I am s competitor rowing person from last 15 years and row 4-5 days in a week on water in summer and rowing machine in the winter. I wonder if my PSA reading is high because of my rowing. I hesitate for biopsy because of its side effects.

  1. Hi I am glad you reached out. Is your doctor recommending you get a biopsy at this point? Or a wait and see or another approach? I am attaching two articles which I hope are helpful to you. Please keep us posted on how you are feeling. Jill, prostatecancer.net team

    1. Questions:
Q: have you had a PSA test before rowing to compare? Maybe stop rowing week or two and repeat PSA.
Q: why not just get the biopsy? At PSA 20... idk, might not want to dilly dally too much.
Q: look up how much does PSA go up due to mechanical manipulation? Subtract that off of the 20.
