I have been in and out of Er’s the past two weeks. The VA did the surgery. Recently CT scan showed fluid 4cm on both sides of bladder. Could the lymphocele fluid be causing the pain? Should I recommend drainage. Running out of options. Ty.

Hi . It is certainly understandable that this would be concerning. I have to note that we are not medical professionals and, for your safety, cannot give medical advice. I did try to do a little research to figure out what might be causing the fluid. I found this article on something called urethrovesical anastomotic leaks: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7025078/. It also appears that, if you also had lymph nodes removed, lymphocele fluid can leak into the pelvic area (see: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10719774/). You may also want to take a look at this article from Harvard Health on potential complications from prostate surgery, including fluid: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/what-complications-can-occur-after-prostate-cancer-surgery-202403133023. Hope this information can further advance conversations with your doctors and you get some relief soon. Please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing and to ask additional questions.
