Three's a Charm

They say, good things come in threes.
Something like that -
Three’s a lucky number!

The first time it came to call.
I thought
Well, at least it’s the good one!

And yes, my glass was half full,
And the whole operation was just not that big a deal,
You’re asleep anyhow – great nap!

Of course later – if you can’t pee,
It’s kind of the pits.
Smile and it all works out!

And then nothing much for a few years.
You almost forget the
Bad plumbing and dysfunctional nerves.

The second time it came to visit
I thought
Well radiation and Lupron will do it!

Radiation – 33 days of warm sheets,
Any music you want, cool machine -
Kind of a day spa!

Lupron – a shot or two in the butt,
Still can’t hit the high notes
But . . . never mind, I forget, um.

And the third time it came to see me,
Two years later – third time, right?
I know it will be good!
