Active Surveillance using non contrast MRI. (Bi Parametric)

I have had over 20 MRI with Gadolimium over the years due to non prostate cancer surveillance. Along with several for prostate. I am trying to reduce gad exposure. I understand that there are some urologists and med centers starting to use non contrast MRI for surveillance along with AI software. I have single small lesion PIRADS 4 that was biopsies multiple times with Negative results. Looking to track growth and feature changes if any to make biopsy decisions in future. I am in east cost New York / CT region. But willing to travel. Thx.

  1. Hi . It is certainly understandable that you don't want any more gadolinium in your system. It does look like you are correct about the non-contrast MRI, as discussed in this article titled "Non-contrast MRI may enhance early detection of prostate cancer:" https://www.urologytimes.com/view/non-contrast-mri-may-enhance-early-detection-of-prostate-cancer. Concerning location, it appears that the biparametric MRI does not require a specific machine and can be done on a standard MRI. You doctor should be able to provide further information on this. Hope this information is helpful and please feel free to let us know if you have additional questions. Best, Richard (Team Member)
