Anyone else have their prostate cancer spread to the lungs?

I wanted to check if anyone else had their prostate cancer spread to their lungs. This was my diagnosis back in July and it resulted in lung surgery in September.

For anyone who had theirs spread to the lungs, I'm interested in what treatment plan you were placed on and what the results have been. I'm particularly interested in what the next steps were if the initial treatment plan eventually stopped working.

Just trying to find out some info on what I may be in for. Thanks to anyone who can share some information.

Tom

  1. Hi . It is certainly understandable that you have concerns and want to connect with others dealing with lung metastasis. As you may have been told, it is pretty rare for the lungs to be the location for prostate cancer metastasis. I only found a couple of posts with members referencing lung metastasis (here: https://prostatecancer.net/forums/when-it-hits-the-lungs and https://prostatecancer.net/stories/lupron). Also, our contributor Todd, a long-term stage 4 patient, had lung metastasis (see: https://prostatecancer.net/living/becoming-cancer-warrior). I also want to share with you this page on "Clinical Insights and Therapeutic Strategies" for prostate cancer lung metastasis: https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6694/16/11/2080. This was written primarily for medical providers, but thought it might be of some help. I know all of this isn't much to go on and I hope others chime in with their thoughts or experiences. Please feel free to to also ask additional questions. Best, Richard (Team Member)

  2. Hi Richard,
Thank you so much for your reply. I knew that a lung metastasis for prostate cancer was unusual, but it seems to very unusual based on the lack of posts by members.

I found the article you provided to be extremely helpful. I've printed it, read it, and highlighted many things that I will ask my oncologist.

    Best regards,

    Tom
