That said, I have seen that bleeding can come from a variety of sources from irritation to more severe urethral trauma to infection. You mention intermittent bleeding, have you had any pain or fever or what appear to be clots? These are all things mentioned as signs of a more serious issue. I would note that it can't hurt to consult the doctor or ask if there are specifics to look for to seek further treatment.
