First Symptoms

I had an enlarged prostate with a PSA in acceptable range. My urologist recommended a Rezum procedure, which is to steam the prostate in order to shrink it and improve urine flow. It is supposed to last 7-8 years. It lasted 7 months. The doctor then recommended TURP surgery. He noted this would be a permanent fix. Pathology was completed on tissue taken from the TURP and it was found to be cancerous. Suspicious tumors were found on my left lung so that resulted in immediate surgery. All was benign. I then received 42 radiation treatments on my prostate which shrunk it significantly. Over the past 2 years my PSA has been up and down but not exceeded the high side of normal range. It is a concern however I keep it in perspective and do all the things I enjoy and want to do. I don't always feel the best but I know as I keep moving and doing I feel better than I would if I slowed down and stopped going. Life is too short!

    1. : I had a similar experience with a so-called acceptable PSA reading for years, only to learn later that I was facing a high Gleason that eventually required surgery and then 40+ radiation treatments.

So glad to see you have a super attitude and are embracing life and living to the fullest. We are much more than PCa. 👍 Dennis(ProstateCancer.net TEAM)
