Inability to Urinate or Incontinence

Interested in hearing if others have experienced an inability to urinate during radiation treatment as opposed to incontinence.

  1. hi . Difficulty urinating following prostate cancer radiation is probably more common than you think. The primary cause is radiation cystitis. This article from our editorial team goes into further detail, including on other symptoms and treatments. Of course, only a doctor can do the proper diagnostics to determine if this is your issue. Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences. Also hoping you can get some relief soon. Best, Richard (Team Member)

  2. My flow was reduced during radiation treatment. My oncologist added Flomax to my regimen of finasteride and doxazosin at my request (flomax and doxazosin are both alpha blockers and generally not used together). I only took the flomax 2 days as I pretty much wanted it in case things got worse. After about a week following treatment I was back to normal.
