PSA rise

Diagnosed with PC in October last year following TURPS, had catheter prior to that for three years. MRI showed no new lesions, was offered biopsy but went on AS. Had first PSA in March and this has increased from 0.74 in October to 3.8 in March which seems quite a spike in 5 months, waiting on urine sample results, if negative, repeat PSA in 6 weeks. I have decided to request a biopsy, am I right to be concerned about spike?

  1. : I believe when a spike is noted, it just makes sense to check. I am not a medical professional, and we don't offer medical advice here. Just for reference, I requested a PSMA PET scan after my post-op, and later, my post-radiation readings jumped from 0.02 to 0.43. Your interest in a biopsy appears to make sense - I would be sure to ask if some type of sedation, etc., will be in place for the procedure. Dennis (Patient Leader)
