What are the best new treatments for prostate cancer.?

I just diagnosed with grade 1, 3+3 Gleson score. I am just exploring my best treatment options either in Canada or USA. I live in Toronto. People are talking about TULSA and FLA as the best possible options with less side effects.
I would really appreciate if folks in this group guide me accordingly to my best way forward. Thanks a bunch.

  1. Hi . The good news is that, with a grade 1 and 3+3 Gleason, you have many options open to you. Has any one discussed active surveillance with you? I ask because it is often recommended to men with your results. This article from our editorial team gives an overview: https://prostatecancer.net/treatment/active-surveillance and our contributor Jim-Bob wrote about his experience with it here: https://prostatecancer.net/living/active-surveillance-takeaways.

Concerning the TULSA treatment, I can't personally speak to it, but here is a previous Forum discussion on it: https://prostatecancer.net/forums/johns-hopkins-336-and-347-treatment-with-focused-ultrasound.

You also mentioned the focal laser ablation. A fellow community member wrote about his experience here: https://prostatecancer.net/stories/focal-laser-ablation-option.

Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences. It is great that you are using the time having a Gleason 6 affords to collect information to make the best choice for you. Please feel free to keep us posted on how you are doing and to ask additional questions. Best, Richard (Team Member)

    1. Thanks for your quick feedback.

      1. Hi. My Gleason in 09/2023 was 5+4, with a Grade 4. Everything that I have read since then says that a 3 + 3 is best to monitor and watch your PSA number.

    2. Hello, I too was diagnosed 3+3 in January. My sergeon advised removal due to 5/14 cores positive all 3+3. I did go for a second and that Dr advised waiting 3 months and testing again. I opted for sergury and am glad I did. Upgraded to 3+4 with focal EPE that wasn't seen on PSMA pet. all I would say is yes A/S is a treatment but make sure to do all you can to ensure thats exactly what it is. Side note, just received pSA results from Mayo Rochester at 6weeks undetectable! Good luck with whatever you decide!
