I'm currently 68 and my psa levels for the past several years were 4.1 retest 2.2, 3.85, 3.75. And this year 5.09 retest 4.99. Urologist said I have an enlarged non-nodular prostate and scheduled an mri on 6 weeks the soonest I could get. Very anxious and concerned.

Hi Daisy. It is understandable that the change in PSA would cause anxiety. The good news is that non-nodular is more indicative of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) than cancer. It is also good that you have been getting checked regularly. Prostate cancer, even when more aggressive, is relatively slow growing. An MRI is a good next step, as it can help avoid unnecessary biopsies and direct the doctors if it looks like a biopsy would be helpful (see: https://prostatecancer.net/clinical/mri-guided-biopsy and https://prostatecancer.net/video/mri-reducing-overdiagnosis). I know this won't eliminate the anxiety, but hope it helps some. Please feel free to keep us posted on how things are going and to ask further questions as you learn more. Best, Richard (Team Member)
